Are You Living Your Passion?

Are you living your passion?  Following your dreams?  Are you stuck in a job you don’t like and see no escape plan?

If you had a choice what would you do with the rest of your life?  Better yet, what is God calling you to do?

When I was 15 years old I thought God was calling me into the ministry or education.  I like teaching and coaching others, whether it be academics or sports.  At 16 years of age I decided that I didn’t want to follow God anymore or follow His plan for my life.  I graduated from high school with the bare minimum credits I needed to graduate.  I didn’t do very good in school, so I sure didn’t have any plans for college.

So what was I going to do the rest of my life, I had no desires, dreams, or passions.  I worked at many different jobs from the age of 18-38.  I call them jobs because I didn’t consider any of them a career.  During those years I had 26  full-time and part-time jobs.

Then one day in February of  1989 everything changed for the better, a miracle took place.  I felt the presence of God in my life once again, it was like a “Paul Experience”.   It was God calling me back to follow Him again and I said yes!  About a week later I decided to go to school and get my education degree, my passion for teaching was still there.   I graduated from the University of Florida in 1994 and began my new CAREER(not job) as a Special Education teacher.  I taught for 14 years and enjoyed it very much.   I was 100% sure I was supposed to go back to school, I had to do it.

I’m writing a book about my experience, it’s called “The God of Second Chances”, I hope to have it published by December 2014.
