Do you ever feel like your life is like being on a merry-go-round, it goes round and round and never goes anywhere? Do you dread Monday mornings. On Tuesdays, are you already looking forward to the weekend? Then on Sunday afternoon you start dreading about getting up for work on Monday morning. Do you feel trapped in your job, believing there are no other options, no other choices in life?  You may believe that this is the way life is supposed to be; you work for 40 years putting up with a job you’re not happy with until you can retire.  Then you can finally start doing things you like to do. If this is you you’re not alone, there are thousands of people that are in the same situation. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

I felt the same way for 22 years except I didn’t stay at one job I had over 26 jobs, part-time and full-time. The longest job I held was for five years. I wasn’t happy at any of my jobs as well, so I kept changing jobs hoping I would find the “right one.”

I didn’t find the right job/career until I allowed God to lead my life instead of doing it myself. After all, God created all of us for a purpose. He gave us all a passion for something. He also gave us special talents and skills that we could use throughout our life. The main purpose we were created was to have fellowship with God. If we put God first in our lives he will reveal our purpose and we will discover our passions.

We weren’t created just to enjoy the weekends. We were created to enjoy every day. This doesn’t mean that every day is going to be perfect and we won’t have any problems. But God does promise us that we won’t have to face our problems alone.

At 38 years old God restored my relationship with him. Once I put God first in my life and allowed him to guide and direct me I started living out my passion. God revealed to me that his purpose for my life was to be a teacher, this is something he laid on my heart when I was a teenager. Even though it was 22 years later that I felt this calling on my life, he still wanted me to pursue this career at the age of 38.

After my amazing encounter with God, within a week I enrolled in school to pursue my education degree. I wasn’t a very successful student in high school; I was a “C” student that struggled with many of my classes. I wasn’t sure how well I would do the next four years in college, but I didn’t have any doubts that this was what God wanted me to do. To fast-forward my story, I taught in public and christian schools for 14 years and I don’t remember dreading Monday mornings. I enjoyed going to work every day. I was doing something I was passionate about.

I’m continuing to live out my passion now as a Life & Business Coach, helping other pursue their dream and passion.

I want to encourage you. You don’t have to keep dreading Monday mornings. You don’t have to wait for the weekend or wait for retirement to enjoy life. You do have a choice about how you’re going to live your life. Remember, today is the first day of the rest of your life, what are you going to do with it?
